CurlFest NYC took place at Randall’s Island in New York City on 27th July. The event is created by the Curly Girl Collective. This organization aims to celebrate and de-stigmatise natural hair. Being a popular event, thousands of people attended.
This festival was founded by Charisse Higgins, Tracey Coleman, Gia Lowe, Simone Mair and Melody Henderson. The first CurlFest had only 1,000 people in attendance.
However, as the natural hair movement has grown, Curlfest has become an essential space for like-minded people to gather, network and discuss critical issues.
Here are my favourite makeup looks from CurlFest NYC.
Makeup Looks To Adore:
Nude Looks with Red Lipstick:
The natural hair movement has achieved a lot this year. Due to their efforts, California and New York have made laws banning race-based hairstyle discrimination.
Bare-faced Beauties:
Although gorgeous hairstyles were the mane attraction at CurlFest NYC, the fashion, style and makeup did not disappoint. From eccentric to nude looks, the island was a hub of makeup inspiration.
