When two popular celebrities break up, it always makes headline news. This is shown in the media coverage of Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne’s breakup. When they are incredibly sexy and have a child, the news spreads like wildfire across all social media platforms and invokes feelings of sorrow, disbelief and shock.
A recent example would be Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum’s split. The internet was overwhelmed with distress. People obsessed over it, and via comments pleaded with Jenna and Chan to reconsider their separation.
Thus, when news broke this morning that Cheryl (you might know her as Cheryl Cole) and Liam Payne who are parents to one-year-old Bear, had broken up, the wheel started. Articles were churned, and people commented.
However, one thing became clear; no one really seems to care. This has even led the Independent to write an article listing the reasons why people are apathetic to this issue.
We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.

Liam released a similar message on his Twitter account.
Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.

So why aren’t people interested in this? Why don’t people care? Why isn’t the society torn by the separation of these sexy and famous stars? Why don’t people care? Why the blatant display of nonchalance?
See some reactions below:
Cheryl Cole has three failed marriages behind her at the age of 35. This proves that money can't buy her happiness.

Personally, I believe it’s the cougar curse. When an older woman (regardless of fame, looks or wealth) is linked to a younger man. Society is never shocked or dismayed when they split up. It’s seen as the inevitable end.
Liam and Cheryl have a ten year age difference between them. This is why articles are talking mostly about Cheryl Cole than Liam Payne. Her previous relationships, failure at past unions, and older status have been the main emphasis of reports regarding this breakup.
Though the breakup statements quote, “We still have so much love for each other as a family”, this might not be so. Cheryl’s birthday was two days ago, on June 30th, and there’s no mention of it on any of Liam’s social media accounts.
Oh well, either way, we wish Cheryl and Liam Payne the best.
I'm so sorry to hear that, but we're here to support you. We wish all the best for you, Cheryl and Bear. Whatever it's gonna happen, you're loved, Liam.
