The Lagos State Government (LASG) announced that Third Mainland Bridge will be closed for tests for four days. It became evident at once that tons of Lagosians would be stuck in traffic for hours.
The temporary closure of the Third Mainland Bridge is effective.

Many people have suggested alternative routes. Wema Bank also alerted people to other alternative forms of transportation. You know like flying, and sailing.
Alternative routes to the closed Third Mainland Bridge include the Eko Bridge, Ikorodu Ferry Terminal and of course the Helipad. 😉

As expected, this closure of a major commute has caused unprecedented stress and traffic across the state. See reactions below;
1.Those who are happy with the closure;
So third mainland bridge is blocked and it’s automatically a day off from work 😆

2. People who are wondering about the hype a.k.a Non-Lagosians;
Lagos people act like their lives depend on Third Mainland Bridge. So they closed it and y’all didn’t die? 😂😂

3. Silver Lining Seers:
So the Third Mainland Bridge closure was not half as bad as I feared even though it took almost 3 hours to get home. Funny how little ‘sufferings‘ like this make Nigerians so strong and resilient.

7. Government Advisers:
It's going to be a stressful 4 days for those who ply Third Mainland Bridge, as it will be closed for maintenance from Aug 23-26. I think Lagos Govt. Should pay attention to transportation by water, cos right now it should be an alrernative for some people plying that route.
— Umeh (@UmehWrites) August 20, 2018
You plan to close the third mainland bridge and the main alternative route is occupied by tankers and heavy duty trucks and no plan to remove them, it goes no show how insensitive this government is.

70% of A city of over 20 million people rely on the third mainland bridge (built in the 70's.)
No new bridges has been built, the vast potential of water transport remains untapped, yet we find a way to praise Ambode n his predecessors.Our passion for mediocrity stinks.
