Silas Onoja is a Nigerian artist born in Makurdi, Benue State. He has had a passion for art since he was a child. As a kid he loved drawing, so he studied fine art at the Benue State Polytechnic. He majors in creating hyper-realistic paintings. His works are lifelike and akin to a photograph.
Silas Onoja depicts Nigerians in different forms. A man smiling on the street, a child having a bath or a swim. His work transports you to that moment immediately, the same way a good book does. ‘‘Art is life’’ so we said, for me Art is everything . Its the best way for me to express myself . Painting is something i can’t do without. I paint human figures, trying to place myself in their shoes, and to try and feel their emotions and expressions. I pass messages through my paintings because for me that’s the best way for me to express myself.
