“No pain, no gain”

This doesn’t rule does not apply to skincare. Whilst it is true for almost everything else, it definitely does not apply to skincare. Your skin is supposed to feel supple and hydrated after your skincare routine and not like it’s been at the gym working out.

“Hydrating Oils”

Oils cannot hydrate, therefore this is not only a skincare scam but also a lie. Hydration comes from moisture and as such the chemical composition of oils means that they can’t add moisture to the skin. Their job is to retain moisture by acting as a sealant.

“All In One Products Are Better”

Off the last skincare scam, this is necessary to know. Most products that are labelled as a mixture of two major skincare products only do one thing. For example, exfoliating toners. The job of a toner isn’t to exfoliate. A toner typically helps to adjust the pH of your skin after washing your face. It has nothing to do with shedding dead skin from your face. So an exfoliating toner is actually just an exfoliant.
