Growing up, there’s a popular quote I always came across. Every one said it, from my mum at home to the teacher at school; Show me your friends, and i’ll show you who you are. Friendships are important.
A ton of friendship quotes abound, proving that platonic relationships are as important as choosing a partner. Another famous one by Dan Pena is “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future”.
A friend is someone you chose to spend time and associate with.
Friends shape our reactions to certain events, our perception and inevitably our life. They quickly become a reflection of you, as they slowly frame our reality. Many people have been positively or negatively affected by friendships.
This is why billionaires are friends with billionaires and successful people stick together. A good example will be the close friendship between Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola. #BFFGoals.
You’re Only As Good As The Company You Keep
Yesterday, reports surfaced that Demi Lovato had an almost fatal drug overdose. She was found alone and heavily unconscious in her apartment. Investigations have shown that she was with friends when she overdosed. Apparently, someone gave her Narcan to help her condition. Narcan primarily consists of Naloxone and is a medication used to block the effects of opioids, especially in overdose.
After doing this, they left her. They abandoned her ALONE and unconscious.
Some friends rumoured to have been with Demi Lovato on the night she overdosed aka The Abandoners have been listed on Twitter. The gist is that they were at a mini-party for Dani’s birthday. Dani is Demi Lovato’s choreographer, backup dancer and BFF. She turned 27 two days ago.
Considering the fact that everyone knows Demi’s struggles with addiction and substance abuse, it’s shocking that her friends would not try in every way to deter this habit. It’s also disheartening that they abandoned her. Although flight in such conditions for self-preservation is the first thought, it is clear that good friends will not run away. Plus, a person’s presence at the scene will eventually be revealed. Don’t they watch CSI?
The only positive outcome of this incident is that many people are aware that friends might not be genuine. A true test of friendships should be to question if your current pals will stick around if you were unconscious. Read some reactions below:

The real lesson at the heart of the Demi Lovato friendship saga is to not get real-plated friends. Real friends or none at all. Fake friends can literally kill you. If you don’t have great friends, don’t get fake ones.
Friendships are an important part of human relationships. Friendship and love go hand in hand. It is important to be conscious of who you choose to be friends with. Fake friends are a menace.
