Girl Groups have been on the music scene for over fifty years. They are an indomitable feature of every musical era. The amazing thing is that over the years, most girl groups have faced the same set of problems.
When I watched the video showing how girl groups have evolved, I was drawn into the charisma of these young ladies who struggled against all odds to become mega superstars.
For example, Destiny’s Child which is widely considered the most successful girl group of all time had management and financial issues during its time. There were court cases, settlements and removal of members.
In recent times, there are two girl groups that keep the flag flying high. The American group, Fifth Harmony that has had a fair share of tumults and the British group, Little Mix.
This short video by Citizen Queen (an acapellaish girl group) pays homage to all the successful female groups that have ever existed. Watching this video is bound to lead to major binging on TLC, Destiny Child and Pussycat Dolls music videos. You’ve been warned.
